Description:

The Paper Wasp is black with yellow stripes and measures between 12 and 18 mm millimeters in length. Like all hymenoptera, its body is divided into three parts. It has two antennae, and the female ovipositor can also be used as a stinging apparatus. Venom is injected by means of a smooth, unbarbed sting which can be withdrawn from the skin; therefore, paper wasps can sting several times.


Where they are found:

Paper Wasps hang their nests from tree branches or beams in attics. They are found more or less everywhere in the world although they are more common in warmer climes.

High molecular weight proteins contained in the venom: hyaluronidase; phospholipase A1; antigen 5.
